DOHA: More than 87,000 students from 227 Ministry of Education, independent and private Arabic schools, and their parents are participating in a student and parent questionnaire. The survey began on March 5, and is expected to continue for another three weeks. The survey, undertaken by the Evaluation Institute’s Data Collection and Management Office (DCM), aims to provide information on students, their home environment, educational background, activities in and outside school, satisfaction with subject matters, academic aspirations, and satisfaction with teaching practices, the Supreme Education Council (SEC) said. “The survey conducted through questionnaires is a continuing process aimed at updating and modernising education data and information used in Qatar comprehensive educational assessment (QCEA), school report cards (SRCS) and other assessments,” said Jamal Abdulla al-Medfa, director of the Data Collection and Management Office. “It is also another way of encouraging community involvement in education development and having community contribute and assist in addressing the problems encountered.” – QNA |
