Qtel announces free raffle draw

Business Reporter

Qtel has announced a free raffle draw through which six visitors to the 15th Asian Games venues will be picked up for the latest TV over mobile handsets, or Digital Broadcast – Hand held (DVB-H) and four visitors for the third generation (3G) handsets.

Additionally, ten visitors to the 15th Asian Games venues will receive other "attractive" prizes from Qtel.

The raffle draw will be held on December 15, the concluding day of the Games.

Qtel’s marketing project director (Asian Games) Mustafa al-Qahtani said visitors could enter the raffle draws by visiting any of the "Qtel showcase sites" at the Asian Games venues. Qtel’s sites are located at the Sports City (Market Street and Aspire), Corniche (next to Sheraton), Doha Golf Club, Al-Gharraffa Sports Club, Al-Sadd Sports Club, Qatar Sports Club and Al-Rayyan Sports Club.

At these sites, participants will simply be required to leave their name and mobile phone number, after which they will be automatically entered into the free raffle draw.

"We are happy that the lucky winners of the high tech DVB-H enabled Samsung handset – a technology which Qtel was the first one to introduce in the Middle East last month – will get the chance to enjoy the exceptionally high quality of images and enjoying watching the Games on their brand new mobile. Winning this technology is even more exceptional as the product will be commercially available only in 2007," he said.

DVB-H delivers real-time "Mobile TV broadcast "of 13 channels such as Al Jazeera, CNN and CNBC. DVB-H looks very much like standard 3G handsets. With cameras and high quality screens, they are fully capable to carry out all the functions of standard GSM and 3G phones.

Moreover, they also have the technology that allows them to receive television footage and FM quality sound, a Qtel release here yesterday said.
