IBQ holds live global broadcast meet

Staff Reporter

As part of its continuous efforts in its commitment to leadership excellence, and in line with its corporate vision, the International Bank of Qatar (IBQ) took its staff as well as students and faculty of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMUQ) to a live global broadcast of The 12th Worldwide Leadership Conference: ‘Leading at a Higher Level.’

The event organised by the CHN Institute on Tuesday featured leaders in today’s business communities with a strong emphasis on leadership strategy, and how to use leadership to unleash human potential within the organisation.

Though CHN provided viewing facilities for mass audiences at the corporate level, IBQ provided its employees and invited guests with the bank’s own private live corporate downlink. The participants were able to comment and discuss on the topics raised at the conference, within the realm of the bank.

"The purpose was to facilitate the growth of our employees and potential employees as true leaders and to understand how leadership works so that we can build a strong mutually beneficial relationship between the different roles at the bank and thus aid the bank’s expansion into a truly recognised brand," said Human Resources head Joanne Scheuch.

In all, 70 IBQ staff members attended the conference, 25 of whom just last week completed the first session of a yearlong training programme.

"With the bank’s recent expansion into the community with more branches and banking facilities, we also realised that it was also our duty to reach out to that same community and contribute, which is why we have invited tomorrows budding leaders to get a practical taste of leadership in the corporate world," added IBQ general manager Michael Williams.
