Qtel announces winners of quiz contest

TEN Qtel customers have won one of the last 10 spots for participation in the 15th Asian Games Torch Relay in Qatar by taking part in Qtel's SMS quiz contest for the Torch Relay competition. Sheikh Fahad bin Jassim al-Thani, Qtel's Executive Director for Wireless Services commented, "The contest was a tremendous success with more than 5000 people taking part. The lucky winners were drawn from 600 participants who answered all questions correctly. We are really pleased that so many of our customers are keen to carry the Flame through Doha and contribute to the exhilarating Asian Games atmosphere."

The SMS competition provided one last chance for people in Qatar to participate in the final leg of this exciting journey. The winners will be running in Qatar between November 25 and December 1, 2006, but will be informed personally by Qtel about the exact time and place where they will be running closer to the event. The competition ran in Arabic and English from September 11 to October 1 for all customers.
As well as 10 Qatari customers, there will also be 10 Qtel managers who will contribute to this historical moment by taking part in the relay, including Qtel Chairman Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud al-Thani and Qtel CEO Dr. Nasser Marafih.
"I am really looking forward to the first Torch bearer for Qtel who will bring the Flame into the Qtel building where it will be handed over to Sheikh Abdullah for the final stretch. This really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I will not miss," said Dr Marafih.
The Torch Relay kicked off at the Flame Lighting Ceremony in Doha on October 8, 2006 and will visit various Asian countries and regions and travel more that 50,000 kilometers in 55 days.  On its return to Qatar, the Torch will travel around Qatar for seven days. The torch relay will culminate with the lighting of the cauldron during the opening ceremony at the Khalifa Stadium on December 1.
The winning customers: Mohammed Abdallah al-Malki, Manisha Patel, Mubarak Mohammed Jassem al-Kowari, Ibrahim Abdullah Ibrahim Zeidan al-Obeidan, Talal Husein Abdullah al-Ansari, Ali Abdulrahman al-Noueimi,Abdulrahman H.Mohamed, Liu Qiong, Manuel Karpenski and Bashir Bello.
Qtel will also have a major presence at daily celebration sites throughout Qatar.
