Doha

Personnel of the different departments of the state security apparatus did a commendable job in helping Qatar residents, who faced problems following the torrential rain on Wednesday.

They were seen assisting motorists navigate flooded streets and carrying schoolchildren, who were hesitant to dare the flooded streets, in their arms.

In many places, the Al Fazaa policemen pushed stranded vehicles and helped motorists reach motorable terrain.

Some policemen were seen directing traffic, standing in almost knee-deep water.

The Traffic Department policemen were also out in good numbers, defying the pouring rain and extending all help to people who were seen struggling to reach their destinations on time.

It was a hard task but they were successful to a large extent in cooling the frayed tempers of people caught up in bumper-to-bumper traffic caused by waterlogged streets.

The Civil Defence also rendered yeoman's service, its personnel reaching the seriously affected spots quickly and helping people to tide over their problems.

They also helped the tankers that were pressed into service to drain accumulated water from streets and shallow grounds.

Residents, both citizens and expatriates, also came to the rescue of stranded people, helping them to haul their vehicles out of the pools formed after the morning downpour.
