Doha

Residents of Doha and other parts of the country can expect rain, thunder and strong winds on Tuesday, triggered by a low pressure system that is likely to affect Qatar until Thursday evening, the weather office has said.
Strong winds, high seas and thundershowers are also expected in offshore areas, according to the forecast.
In a warning issued on its Twitter page on Mionday, the Qatar Met department said the low pressure system was expected to result in moderate to heavy rains, becoming thundery at times and gradually extending to all parts of the country.
The department urged people to “remain cautious during the rain, especially thundershowers, which might be accompanied by fresh to strong gusts of wind, a drop in visibility and a chance of hail”.
It also advised people not to venture into the sea during this period and follow weather updates from official sources.
As a result of the aforementioned factors, the maximum temperature is likely to drop to the mid-20C level across the country today, the weather report shows.
The minimum and maximum temperatures in the country will be 18C and 26C, respectively, with the forecast for Doha being 22C and 25C. The maximum temperature is expected to be the lowest in Dukhan, at 23C.
The forecast for inshore areas says hazy and partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are likely on Tuesday, along with rain over most parts of the country, which may be accompanied by thunder in some places. The wind speed may go up to 30kt during thundershowers, according to the Met department.
Offshore areas will remain partly cloudy and there is also a chance of scattered rain and thunder at times. The wind speed in these areas is likely to reach 28kt during the day, while the sea level may go up to 9ft.
Visibility, meanwhile, may drop to 3km or less during the thundershowers.
