A Malaysian man and a woman are being tried by a Doha Criminal Court for using counterfeit credit cards to pay for their purchases in Doha.

Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that a complaint was filed at the concerned authority by a commercial outlet in Doha indicating that some purchases were done through counterfeit credit cards. Investigations confirmed the incident.

A Malaysian woman was spotted trying to buy two branded watches with a counterfeit credit card. Upon searching her belongings, 10 more of such cards were found.

The man, who was her accomplice, was found to have 18 counterfeit credit cards in his possession.

He admitted that he got introduced to his partner during a flight and used the cards in paying for the hotel as well.

The case is continuing at the court, the daily added.
