The four-day Eid al-Adha festivities at Katara - the Cultural Village concluded on Sunday.
The celebrations were attended by “tens of thousands” of visitors from Qatar and other GCC countries, according to a statement from Katara.
Over the past four days, a large number of people from different nationalities and walks of life spent their evenings at Katara, enjoying the shadow show and fireworks display held on the occasion.
Another highlight of the festivities was the distribution of giveaways among children in the evening.
Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager of the Cultural Village, lauded the efforts of the people involved in conducting the programme. “A highly qualified team organised the Eid al-Adha festivities, whose success is illustrated through the significant attendance of visitors,” he said.
The shadow performance, presented by 12 artistes, was staged opposite the Katara amphitheatre and turned out to be a major attraction. The fireworks display also drew large crowds, who headed to the esplanade to watch the 10-minute display every night.
Adil al-Ansari, director of cultural events for Eid al-Adha, said the shadow theatre staged at Katara involved a distinct idea and content and was a blend of entertainment, culture, knowledge and amusement. It also fulfilled the requirements of different cultural tastes.
Salem al-Merri, head of the media and communication department at Katara, praised the efforts made by the Department of Public Relations and Communications in co-ordination with different media.
