Vodafone employees are supporting Qatar Charity (QC)’s Workers’ Iftar Programme, helping deliver over 400 meals to workers’ camps in the Industrial Area on a weekly basis throughout Ramadan.
For every hour of employee volunteering, Vodafone Qatar has pledged to donate QR1,000 to QC’s Family Sponsorship programme, supporting low-income families in Qatar.
“We are so proud of our employees who are always quick to do good things for the community when opportunities arise. Empowering employees to do good and supporting employee charity initiatives is one of our core beliefs at Vodafone. We are honoured to support all Qatar Charity initiatives that have helped millions of people in Qatar and around the globe,” said Dana Haidan, head of CSR, Vodafone Qatar.
Nasser al-Yafei, executive director for local development at QC, applauded the partnership with Vodafone Qatar and underlined the importance of co-operation with relevant institutions, which helps the beneficiaries, especially in the holy month of Ramadan.
Al-Yafei also noted that QC and Vodafone Qatar had several other joint initiatives, which were “highly successful and reflected positively upon the beneficiaries whom Qatar Charity was dedicated to help” under a wide variety of projects.
Vodafone’s employees also volunteered their time last Thursday at a QC-organised Garangao event for orphans in Qatar where they played with the children and handed out sweets to them.
This was part of a long line of Vodafone employee volunteering under the company’s employee volunteering programme, “Kafu”. Most recently, Vodafone employees took part in a blood donation drive in association with Hamad Medical Corporation.
Moreover, in partnership with Reach Out to Asia, Vodafone supports employee volunteering trips to several projects around Asia where employees contribute to capacity-building for the beneficiary communities. In addition, Vodafone’s charity cycling team, Qatar Sandstormers, cycled over 700km through Europe recently, raising funds for QC.
