Prominent business leaders and dignitaries gathered on Sunday for the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) annual Suhoor in Doha.
Senior representatives from QFC’s licensed firms as well as VIPs from the business community attended the event, with the focus on “Great Success Comes from Great Support”.
The gathering also marked the first public address of Yousuf al-Jaida since assuming the position of CEO at QFC.
He touched on the centre’s successes of the last year and outlined some plans for the future, saying: “There is still more we want to do to further assist and develop the private sector, which is the foundation of a healthy and sustainable economy. At Ramadan, particularly, we are reminded that our community depends not just on wealth but on mutual support, and working together for the betterment of the whole of society.”
The evening was marked by two main announcements.
Yousef Fakhroo, director of marketing and corporate communications, introduced QFC’s new brand ambassador, Ghanim al-Muftah. His inspirational television commercial (TVC), which airs on Qatar TV during Ramadan, has already amassed over 130,000 views on QFC’s YouTube channel.
Ghanim follows in the footsteps of Sheikh Mohamed al-Thani, who featured in QFC’s first TVC.
During the evening, QFC also presented Best Buddies Qatar with a promotional video produced by The Film House.
“We are delighted to partner with QFC,” said Laalei Abualfain, managing director of Best Buddies Qatar, a non-profit organisation dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
“Through this partnership, we hope to further raise awareness of this condition locally and provide people with IDD with equal opportunities to thrive in the private sector,” added Abualfain.
This is the first of many activities QFC intends to conduct with Best Buddies Qatar as it works towards giving back to the local community, according to a statement.
Commenting on the partnership, Fakhroo said: “Ramadan is a time for giving and reflecting. With this in mind, we partnered with Best Buddies Qatar. Both organisations firmly believe that great success comes from great support. QFC is proud to support Best Buddies Qatar to create their first promotional video and collaborate to ensure that everyone gets an equal opportunity to thrive in Qatar’s private sector.”
The QFC annual Suhoor serves as a platform for the business community to network and find new ways to cater to the growing needs of the local economy.
