HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada yesterday met in Doha with the Secretary-General of the Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) Abbas Ali al-Naqi.
Qatar chairs the current session of OAPEC, where HE Dr al-Sada chairs the Ministerial Council of the organisation.
The meeting was attended by director of energy policies and international relations department in the Ministry Sheikh Meshal bin Jabor al-Thani, who is also the current chairman of the executive bureau of OAPEC.
During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments related to the oil markets and topics of common interest to the OAPEC member states.

Man sentenced to 3-year jail for embezzlement
A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced a man, who was in charge of a company’s vault, to three years in jail for embezzlement to the tune of over QR2mn, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.
The sentence was upheld by the Court of Cassation after the Court of Appeal rejected his plea.
The man was convicted of embezzlement and manipulation of documents to conceal his act, with investigations confirming the loss of more than QR2mn.
He admitted to having taken the money for himself and spent around QR1.2mn on cars, foreign holidays, watches, perfumes, mobile phones and other personal items. He justified the action saying difficult financial circumstances drove him to take the money in such a manner.

Ministry recalls Lexus vehicles

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has announced a free recall campaign for Lexus vehicles model LS600h manufactured during 2007- 2010 for a manufacturing defect in the fuel system that may cause some leak. The campaign is jointly conducted with Abdullah Abdulghani and Bros Company, the authorised dealer of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Qatar.

Advisory Council holds meeting

The Advisory Council held its weekly meeting under the chairmanship of HE the Speaker Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi.
