Ooredoo’s Alrabaa surprised families waiting for the Ramadan cannon in Doha this week, distributing Iftar boxes when the cannon was fired.
The firing of the “Midfa al Iftar” (Ramadan cannon) announces the breaking of the fast and is a much-respected tradition in Qatar.
After hearing the Ramadan cannon, families gathered to break their fast and enjoy the sunset at the Corniche, while children played and took pictures with the Alrabaa team.
The theme of Ooredoo’s campaign during the holy month is “The best time to share our best” and the
Alrabaa have been active across Qatar, sharing their joy with young and old alike.
Fatima Sultan al-Kuwari, director of community and public relations at Ooredoo, said: “The firing of the cannon is a very meaningful event for many people and it’s a great honour to share this experience with the community. The Alrabaa truly have the opportunity to join people, and together with the spirit of Ramadan, we hope everyone had a great time.”
Part of the Alrabaa’s mission is to represent Qatari culture and the activity at the cannon site was another chance to remind people of the customs of the holy month.
The visit was part of a series of community and charity activities this Ramadan at various events and locations around the country. Customers can follow Ooredoo’s Ramadan campaign via Ooredoo’s Facebook, Instagram or Twitter page and the hashtag #SharingOurBest
