Milaha has launched a summer training programme, which allows students to experience working across its maritime and logistics businesses including port services, shipping agencies and other operations of the company.
The training programme is aimed at Qatari students currently enrolled in universities in Qatar and abroad and studying maritime, engineering, finance and business administration related majors, in addition to those from Qatar Technical School.
The programme, which aims to provide students with a practical experience that complements their theoretical education under the supervision of highly-qualified staff, lasts four-eight weeks according to the requirements of the school the student belongs to or based on the interns’ requests and projects.
The 24 students, who will be taking part in this year’s edition, had been introduced to Milaha through the various job fairs and initiatives that the company recently launched or participated in as part of its effort to engage with the local community and maintain its Qatarisation
drive.
“As Qatar’s first commercially-registered shareholding company, we feel that we have an additional responsibility to set an example to other companies by contributing to our community and becoming an employer of choice that attracts and retains the brightest Qatari talents,” Milaha president and chief executive Khalifa al-Hetmi said.
Milaha has been actively participating in Qatarisation programmes in conjunction with government bodies and this specific programme is an excellent opportunity that enables students to define and develop their career path and become assets to the local workforce, Maha al-Mohannadi, Milaha’s Talent Manager, said.
“We look forward to working closely with these students to help them combine the practical and theoretical aspects of their degrees and research,” she said.
