HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah received a telephone call from Australia’s Foreign Minister Julie Bishop yesterday. They discussed bilateral relations and ways of strengthening them, as well as topics of mutual interest.

Labour Minister meets envoys

HE the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Dr Abdullah bin Saleh al-Khulaifi held separate meetings with Charge d’Affaires at the Yemeni embassy in Doha Mohamed Abdullah al-Zubairi and Sweden’s ambassador to Qatar Ewa Polano.
Aspects of co-operation in addition to matters of mutual concern were discussed.
Several officials from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs attended the meeting.

Qatar-S Korea ties reviewed

HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari received a written message from South Korean Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Kim Jongdeok connected with cultural relations between the two friendly countries and means to develop them.
The message was handed over by South Korea’s ambassador to Qatar Chung Keejong during a meeting today with Dr al-Kuwari.

Speaker meets US ambassador

HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi met US ambassador to Qatar Dana Shell Smith yesterday.
They discussed relations in the parliamentary field and the means to enhance them.  HE Secretary-General of the Advisory Council Fahad bin Mubarak al-Khayareen attended the meeting.


Advisory Council holds weekly session
The Advisory Council held its weekly session yesterday chaired by HE the Speaker Mohamed bin Mubarak  al-Khulaifi. The Council reviewed a floor request presented by members on the cost of the health insurance and decided to refer it to the Service and Public Utilities committee for a report. The council also discussed a report by the Services and Public Utilities Committee on civil defence and decided to refer its recommendations to the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the Advisory Council held a meeting yesterday The committee continued the examination of a draft law amending some of the provision of Law No 26 of 2008 on water and electricity rationalisation of consumption.  HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada attended the meeting.

3.309mn kilos of sugar rejected
The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has rejected an imported cargo of 132,000 sacks of white sugar weighing 3.309mn kilos, for violating the health and technical regulations of the GCC in particular about transportation as per the Law No.GSO148/2008 about sugar.
According to the SCH, the cargo was rejected after a routine inspection on food cargoes by the unit at the Doha port.
