Disney on Ice presents Princesses and Heroes, which starts today and runs until May 30 at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), will stage an additional show “due to huge public demand,” Sport and Entertainment Solutions (SES) founder Ali Haidary told Gulf Times.
“This is the third year we have brought Disney on Ice to Doha and the show has been met with huge success. Several days before the show, our VIP and royal seats were already sold out.
“And because of that demand, we have decided to launch another show on Friday at 11am and we’re calling it the ‘Family Friday Show’,” Haidary explained.
More VIP and royal seats will be available for the “Family Friday Show.” Families attending the show will get a 25% discount for the Gold, Silver and Bronze seats.
“And since we expected the demand to be quite high for the entire duration of the show, we have given an incentive to people who bought their tickets early from Virgin,” he noted.
According to Haidary, a total of nine shows will enthral audiences with the addition of the “Friday Family Show.”
“We are expecting more than 40,000 people in attendance by the end of the shows, which are guaranteed to make every kid happy and to bring out the child from any adult,” Haidary stressed.
Asked if Doha was able to live up to its reputation as Disney on Ice’s hub for the Middle East, Haidary said, “Yes, Doha has lived up to its reputation as our hub in the region; and aside from entertainment there are fantastic events happening and upcoming activities in the country, including political and business events.”
He added: “I consider Doha as our ‘spiritual capital’ because this was the first city where we staged Disney on Ice in the Middle East.”
Haidary also said this would be the first time the show would feature “Frozen” in the Middle East.
“Disney on Ice has just finished touring the US and from there it came straight to Doha. What sets this year’s show apart from the previous ones is that this the first time we are staging Frozen, which was a top grosser in the box office,” Haidary said.
He also noted that Disney on Ice has secured its reputation as a top, family-oriented event in Qatar.
“Every year we come to Doha and the demand keeps increasing, and we have more and more families attending the show.
“What I love about Disney on Ice is that it brings families together. Unlike other shows or concerts that cater only to specific target markets, this show encompasses all audiences,” he emphasised.
Haidary said he is confident that Disney on Ice will continue to bring more families together, as he cited the consistent support and assistance provided by the Qatar Tourism Authority, QNCC, and Amlak.
