The Health Control Department of Rayyan Municipality booked 129 violations out of 1,115 inspections of restaurants and food outlets in April.
Inspectors booked owners of outlets for not complying with Law No 3 of (1975) as well as Law No 8 of (1990). Inspectors did four surprise checks during the month and also undertook pledges from 51 to comply with the health rules.
The department found 1,882kgs of meat, 21 sheep and 1,500 packed foodstuff unfit for human consumption as the products breached stipulated health norms. Out of 38 food samples sent to Central Laboratory for analysis, 27 did not pass the benchmark. The department imposed fines adding up to QR243,600.
Meanwhile, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Centre installed between 1,500 to 2,000 new panels on either the external or internal units of buildings as part of Qatar’s My Address System Project. A total of 125,000 have been installed.
