Qatar Airways flight QR944 being greeted by a traditional water cannon salute upon landing at Singapore's Changi Airport.

Qatar Airways became the first airline to operate the world’s newest aircraft to Singapore and the Asia Pacific region on Monday with the inaugural A350 XWB service arriving at Singapore's Changi Airport.
Upon touching down at the Changi Airport, QR944 was greeted by a traditional water cannon salute and a welcome ceremony.
Marwan Koleilat, Qatar Airways chief commercial officer, said at the ceremony: “The A350 XWB is the third and final major new aircraft in a decade and Qatar Airways is delighted to be the first global airline to fly this state-of-the-art aircraft into Singapore and Asia Pacific.
“Singapore is a key market for Qatar Airways and we remain committed to offering our Singapore-based passengers the best in-flight experience possible.”
Qatar Airways is the global launch customer for the A350 XWB and remains the only airline to currently fly the world’s newest wide-body aircraft. Following Frankfurt, Singapore is the second route for the A350 XWB.
The business class cabin has 36 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration featuring an 80” full flat bed and 17” HD in-flight entertainment screen. The economy class has 247 18-inch wide seats in a 3-3-3 configuration, each with a 10.6” in-flight entertainment screen, and more space at shoulder level for passengers in window seats due to the vertical side wall panel design, according to a statement.
The aircraft features the Oryx entertainment system, with up to 2,000 entertainment options on individual screens in all classes. The A350 XWB also offers advanced air-conditioning technology and LED mood lighting to enhance the comfort of passengers, as well as in-flight WiFi connectivity for all passengers, the statement adds.
The Doha-based airline operates a double-daily service to Singapore with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the aircraft will be progressively replaced by the next-generation A350 XWB. In addition, from later this summer, Qatar Airways will have an additional daily flight to Singapore as part of its global expansion drive and to cater to the increase in passenger demand, the statement further points out.
All three daily flights will be operated using the A350 XWB by mid-August.
The triple-daily schedule from June 1 is as follows: QR944 departing Doha at 2.25am and arriving in Singapore at 3.15pm; QR945 departing Singapore at 2.30am and arriving in Doha at 5.05am; QR938 departing Doha at 7am and arriving in Singapore at 7.50pm; QR939 departing Singapore at 9.20pm and arriving in Doha at 11.55pm; QR942 departing Doha at 8.25pm and arriving in Singapore at 9.15am (next day); and QR943 departing Singapore at 10.40am and arriving in Doha at 1.15pm.
