Applications for the Japanese government’s MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Scholarship are open until May 10 for Qatari nationals who wish to study at universities in Japan.

Japan’s Ministry of Education offers two full-package scholarships for Qatari students to study and live in Japan.
The first one, scholarship for undergraduate students, involves studying in Japan for five years (April 2016 to March 2021), including a one-year study of the Japanese language. Applicants must have been born between April 2, 1994, and April 1, 1999 (16-21 years old), and must be interested in the Japanese language.
The second one, scholarship for research students (post-graduate), involves study and research in Japan for two years (April 2016 to March 2018), including a six-month study of the Japanese language. Applicants must have been born on and after April 2, 1981 (under 35 years).
Candidates from Qatar will be selected by a Joint Selection Committee comprising officials from the Supreme Education Council, Qatar University and the Japanese embassy after document screening, written examination and an interview process. Names of the selected candidates will be recommended to Japan’s MEXT for the final screening.
