Yard sale of local agricultural products will start in November instead of December, local daily Arrayah reported yesterday quoting a Ministry of Environment official.
Abdulrahman al-Sulaiti, general supervisor for the yards at Al Mazrouah, Al Khor and Al Zakhira and Al Wakrah, said there is a plan to expand the areas for selling cattle in the next season, which would be extended by a month. “The move is aimed to encourage local producers and farmers to display their products and increase their produce.”
The official affirmed that the success of the current season, quoting excellent sales reported until April 9. Around 498,300 boxes of fresh vegetables were sold, besides 1,196 tonnes of fruits, 81,600 tonnes of fish, 1,429 heads of cattle and 13,597 birds of poultry.
Both vendors and customers said that the prices of such products were reasonable compared to other places, taking into consideration the good quality of the products, the daily added.
