Hamad International Airport (HIA) will introduce a payment structure for its long-term car park by the end of the month.
In a press statement, HIA said passengers can pay either by cash or credit card at any of the booths upon their exit from the car park. But vehicles parked before paid parking is implemented will not be charged of any fee.
HIA also asked vehicle owners to refrain from parking for more than 60 days to avoid facing any legal action from the airport management.
“HIA strives to provide its customers with the best travel experience possible, starting even before they arrive at the check-in counter,” it said. “In parallel with the introduction of parking fees, HIA will be increasing services in its Long-Term Car Park.”
A large number of passengers and travellers are benefiting from the airport’s free long-term parking since its opening. They find it more convenient to leave their cars for several weeks while they are away from the country.
According to HIA, passengers will enjoy “a fully secured parking area” which can accommodate 2,540 vehicles including those for people with disabilities.
Dedicated parking staff will be ready to assist passengers with any customer needs. A regular shuttle service comes every 15 to 20 minutes to take them to the main terminal.
In the same statement, HIA said other amenities will also be introduced in the coming months. It urged the public to visit its website www.dohahamadairport.com or contact its call centre at 4010-6666. HIA also has social media channels such as Twitter (@HIAQatar), Facebook (Facebook.com/HIAQatar) and Instagram (HIAQatar).
However, rates have yet to be announced but the daily fee at the long-term parking at the old Doha International Airport used to be QR50.
Employees of the airport have a designated parking area with more than 1,000 slots.
The parking area also has six designated air-conditioned kiosks where smoking, sleeping, drinking and eating are prohibited.
