HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah yesterday met Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Borge Brende, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres and European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid Christos Stylianides, on the sidelines of the 3rd International Pledging Humanitarian Conference for Syria taking place in Kuwait.  
HE the Foreign Minister, also met Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Representative for Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) in the Middle East Antoine Bieler.
The latest developments in the region were discussed.

 

Envoy presents credentials
King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden received the credentials of Qatar’s ambassador to Sweden Hamad bin Mohamed al-Khalifa in Stockholm yesterday.
The ambassador conveyed the greetings of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. The ambassador also conveyed the Emir’s keenness to enhance relations with Sweden.  
The king of Sweden reciprocated the Emir’s greetings and wished the people of Qatar and relations with Sweden further prosperity.


Minister meets China’s envoy
HE the Minister of Transport Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti met the Ambassador of China to Gao Youzhen.
They discussed co-operation in the field of transport and the means to enhance it.

Culture Minister heads to China
HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari left for China yesterday at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Cai Wu.
During the visit, HE al-Kuwari will discuss means to promote cultural relations between Qatar and China in addition to the preparations for the cultural year Qatar-China 2016 and signing a protocol.
Qatar has been actively participating in Arab cultural events held in China, especially in the Arab-Chinese Forum.

Ministry recalls Dodge Chrysler vehicles
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has launched a free recall campaign for Dodge Chrysler models Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler C300 (5.7 litre engine) manufactured during 2009-2012, to repair a potential fault in the engine timing belt. The campaign is conducted in co-operation with United Cars Al Mana, the dealer of Dodge Chrysler in Qatar.

Villaggio fire case adjourned
A Doha Court of Appeals has decided to further adjourn hearing in the Villaggio fire case to May 10 to hear the witness accounts of Civil Defence inspectors and experts, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.
The court has also agreed to add a new witness to the list of approved witnesses to hear from him on certain related issues. Further, it will address the Al Rayyan Security Department regarding some of the seized evidence such as computers, documents and rent contracts based on the requests of the attorney of the first accused, the complex owner.
The court spent around six hours on Monday hearing the witness account of a Civil Defence lieutenant.
Besides, the court heard the argument of lawyers of the other accused regarding several technical issues related to the fire at the mall, which took place in 2012.
