Three senior Mowasalat officials have been elected to the International Union of Public Transport (UITP).
Khalid Nasser al-Hail, chief executive officer, Mowasalat, has been elected to the UITP board on water transport activities, while Nasser al-Khanji, executive director, is now the vice chairman of the UITP Mena large and Ali Abdulla Bahzad, director, is the vice chairman of the UITP (Mena board).
The elections were held in Casablanca, Morocco after the UITP Mena Congress.
In February, Ahmed Busherbak al-Mansoori, executive director for operations at Mowasalat, was named a member of the UITP international bus committee.
Mowasalat in a statement said the election of its officials to the UITP positions is a “major feat for the company and is a recognition of its efforts in strengthening the public transport sector”.
“The latest recognitions are the culmination of Mowasalat’s efforts to enhance sustainable transport at different levels. The company hopes such UITP positions would help it seek and foster partnerships with other transport organisations across the world,” the statement said.
The UITP represents 1,300 member companies giving access to over 14,000 contacts from the various fields of local, national and regional inter-city mobility from 92 countries.
Mowasalat has been a member of the UITP since its inception in 2004 and has hosted a number of international events of the forum in Qatar.
