The Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), a member of the Qatar Foundation, has opened online registration for its first annual conference which will take place on April 27 and 28 at the Qatar National Convention Centre.
Through the conference, the QGBC is supporting the foundation’s commitment to promote sustainable best practice and infrastructure development on the nation’s journey to a knowledge-based economy as set out in the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The conference invites academic researchers and industry practitioners, including urban planners, property consultants, sustainability experts and architects from Qatar and around the world to take part in a series of sessions on local, regional and international sustainability.
QGBC director Meshal al-Shamari said that the “Council is committed to promoting environmental sustainability in all walks of life in Qatar, with the built environment under particular focus at this first conference”.
“The QGBC team is looking forward to welcoming registrations from delegations from Qatar and around the world as the Qatar Green Building Conference will provide an excellent forum for practitioners and academic researchers to exchange ideas about the latest issues and developments in the green building industry and offer solutions,” he added.
Conference participants will have the opportunity to meet and discuss current themes with leading local and international experts who have extensive experience working on green building developments and sustainability research.
QGBC head of sustainability Dr Alex Amato said: “The Qatar Green Building Conference will showcase outstanding recent industry research with research papers offering innovative and practical solutions to a number of key issues facing Qatar and the region.”
