More than 100 children participated in activities of “Shoot” safety awareness campaign organised by the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
Held at the El Jaish Sports Club in association with Qatar Police Sports Federation (QPSF), the event aimed to raise traffic awareness among children in the age group of 7 - 12 years.
The activities were held in Ibn Khaldoun Independent Preparatory School for boys.
QPSF assistant chairman Col Adil Ahmad Malullah and Abdul Khader al-Moghaiseb, technical manager of the children’s wing under the club,
attended the event.
Many of the Shoot safety awareness programmes, which highlight the theme “through awareness achieve the goal,” started since February 18 in various sports clubs.
Col Malallah said the event aims to inculcate the guidelines of traffic culture in children’s minds through entertainment activities.
Al-Moghaiseb lauded the huge participation of children in the event saying such awareness programmes are needed in the Qatari community.
Sheikha Al Anoud al-Thani, head of media studies section at MoI’s public relations department, said more activities will be held at Rayyan Sports Club on March 1, Al Ahli Sports Club on March 3 and the final event will be held in Messaimer Club on March 4.
She noted that the campaign was confined to children who will undergo football training, as well as educate them on traffic rules.
