The cinema complex at the West End Park, consisting of two halls of 500 seats each, has been closed for maintenance work.

An official of the company that operates the cinema halls said they would try to resume screening after a fortnight once essential maintenance works are done.
The official explained that the two halls would now have more advanced facilities. Asked if the improved facilities would also mean an increase in ticket rates, he said the halls would continue to remain affordable.
"Situation permitting, the two other halls at the complex, which are yet to be opened, will also be ready when the present halls resume their screening," he added.
The two screens, generally regarded as the only "affordable" cinemas for a considerably large number of expatriates, have been a big hit with the moviegoers in the country, especially Indians, who constitute the largest group of regulars at the movie halls. The tickets are priced at QR15. In comparison, ticket prices at multiplex facilities are upwards of QR35.
The two halls at the cinema complex were opened for screening in December 2013.
