Former US Secretary of Transportation Rodney Slater will speak at a seminar which will be part of Discover America-USA Week Qatar to be hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham in Qatar).
Slater, who served under president Bill Clinton, will speak on US Infrastructure and Transportation Investment Opportunities. It will be held on February 16.
Local business houses and other potential investors will get a clear understanding of the potential areas of investment in the US transportation sector, chairman of AmCham Qatar Robert Hager said while explaining the importance of understanding the investment rules and procedures in the US.  
Such issues as state and federal taxes, and similar information on essential issues for investors will be made available to the participants.
The AmCham is organising a half-day seminar on “Doing Business in the US” on February 18, in partnership with the Qatar Chamber of Commerce. It is aimed at Qatari ventures and businessmen looking to invest in the US or expand their business activities in America.
The lineup will feature experts and lobbyists, offering deep intelligence and insight into the US economy, tax and legal systems.
AmCham and Middle East Business Solutions (MEBS) will jointly host the first annual Chili Cook on February 21. It will be judged on spiciness, flavour and originality and authenticity in a blind taste test, guaranteeing a fun day for the visitors.
Taking into account the interests of Qatari women to such areas as fashion, costumes, apparels, etc, the American Women’s Association is hosting an event catering to the requirements of the local fashion aficionados.
AmCham Qatar’s fifth annual golf tournament, featuring about 70 professionals and amateurs will be held at Doha Golf Club on February 22. The 18-hole event has many prizes in different categories, including the longest drive and closest shot to the pin. The organisers are also planning a two-day screening of classic Hollywood movies on February 16 and 17, at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) Student Center in partnership with the Northwestern University Qatar.
The activities are planned to be held in partnership with the Qatar Airways, Qatar Chamber of Commerce, Northwestern University in Qatar, and some other firms.
Besides NU-Q where the screening of the movies will take place, the other likely venues of the weeklong event are Grand Hayat Hotel, Doha Marriott, Four Seasons, Ezdan Mall and Doha Golf Club.
