The Ministry of Interior hosted several programmes as part of the Qatar National Day celebrations at West End Park and Wakrah, Rayyan and Al Khor stadiums.

The cultural events and sports competitions drew large numbers of people.

At West End Park, Col Abdullah Khalifa al-Muftah, director of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior, inaugurated the events. Lt Col Ahmed Zayed al-Mohannadi, director of the Community Policing Department, Lt Col Sultan Mohamed al-Kaabi, assistant director, and the official guest at the activities, Sayed Hyder Ali Shihab, president of the Indian Union Muslim League, also attended the event.

In the school cultural competitions, Ideal Indian School won first place, Sri Lankan School came second and Scholars International School was third. In the cricket tournament, the Pakistan community team won the championship, defeating the Indian community team in the final.  

At Al Khor, the Nepalese community and Al Khor residential community organised a range of activities along with cultural events by school students. In the cultural competitions, MES School won first place, Birla Public School came second and DPS MIS was third. Lt Salim Ali al-Sahamri, officer at the Community Policing Department, presented the medals and prizes.  

The official ceremony at the Rayyan Sports Club was attended by Philippine ambassador Crescente R Relacion and assistant head of the Malaysian embassy, Mohamed Nour Zaki Mohamed.

Philippine International School Qatar won the first prize in the cultural competition. Philippine School Doha, Doha Modern Indian School and Noble School were second, third and fourth, respectively.

At Al Wakrah stadium cultural programmes were presented by the Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities and community schools also staged shows.  Lt Col Ghanem Saad al-Khayareen from the Community Policing Department, venue commander and officer at South Security Department First Lt Jassim Fahad al-Thani attended the event.

In the school competition, Bhavan’s Public School won the first prize, followed by Pakistan Education Centre, Bangladesh MHM School and Shantiniketan School.

In the football tournament, Al-Able Trading company emerged winners while Al-Khayyat Contracting company were runners-up.
