Auto accessory shops across Doha and its suburbs have enjoyed brisk business in the last 48 hours, thanks to the Qatar National Day celebrations.

Many  of the retail outlets located along the B-Ring Road, especially on the two stretches between the Volkswagen Signal and Crazy Signal and the other between Crazy Signal and Al Handasa Signal were closing in the wee hours in the last two days, on account of good sales.

Workers supervised by vehicle owners, both  citizens and residents, were seen decorating the vehicles with stickers of different hues.

“With more firms undertaking such decorations these days, the business has become more competitive than before and in some cases there has been a marginal fall in the rates,” said a shopkeeper on B-Ring Road.

However, customers felt otherwise as some of them said costs have gone up. Inquiries found the tariffs for decorations starting from QR100 onwards, with rates go up depending on the demands and vehicles, it is understood.

Shopkeepers said compared to the previous year, the business is slightly better this time. “However, taking into account the large rise in the number of vehicles in the country, the growth in the business is very minimal,” said the manager at an auto accessory shop in Bin Ghanim, whose outlet is one of the most sought after, in the entire area.

Some of the operators of the auto accessory establishments on B-Ring Road said most of their large businesses are coming from places outside city areas.

While most of the decoration works are carried out in the vicinity of such shops, some customers take the workers to their homes for the task, it is
understood.
