Qatar Museums has launched an equestrian photo competition to uncover new photographic talent across the country.
Amateur and professional photographers can submit images that capture “powerful and eye catching imagery of the striking Arabian horses in action” as they race at various events organised by the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) until February 26, 2015.
The competition, launched yesterday, is in line with Qatar Museums' commitment of nurturing emerging talent, celebrates the role that horses have played in Arabic art, as well as their contribution to Qatar’s heritage and culture.
The overall winner will be announced at the QREC’s 40th anniversary event in February 2015. The best photo entries from the competition will also be unveiled during the anniversary event.
“The equestrian photography competition is a new and exciting initiative that gives aspiring and professional photographers in Qatar the opportunity to showcase their talent and capture powerful imagery of beautiful Arabian horses in action,” said Hamad al-Eida, director of Communication at Qatar Museums.
To enter the competition, participants need to register via the website www.qm.org.qa. Once registered, entrants will gain exclusive access to a press box at one of the QREC events to capture close up shots. Each entrant can submit up to three pictures.
A trip to the famous racing and equestrian event in France known as The Qatar Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe in 2015 awaits the winner.
