The General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security foiled an attempt to smuggle 70 houbara birds into the country yesterday morning.

The houbaras were found during an inspection of a boat after it was spotted on the northern coast of the country in a suspicious manner. A person was trying to bring the birds into the country illegally.

The case was referred to the authorities concerned for further investigation.

A couple of days ago, the Coast Guard had prevented an attempt to bring in four falcons and 87 houbaras through the Simaisima coast. The case was referred to the Ministry of Environment for investigation.
