ExxonMobil Qatar’s Tamayoz training programme enhanced the skills of more than 100 employees from valued joint-venture (JV) partners like Qatar Petroleum (QP), RasGas and Qatargas from June to mid-October.

The training and development activities were held in Doha and included Advanced Gas Processing, Reservoir Engineering, Project Controls Overview and Gas Business Fundamentals.

In addition, two Leadership and Personal Effectiveness courses were also held: Effective Teams & Cultural Essentials and Consulting Training.

All initiatives in the Tamayoz programme are led by ExxonMobil subject-matter experts and offered free of charge for participants with the aim of transferring knowledge to valued partners.

The year-to-date total has surpassed more than 320 participants in a range of subject areas.

“The Tamayoz training programme consistently reinforces ExxonMobil’s commitment to Qatar National Vision 2030 through each training opportunity,” said Bart Cahir, president and general manager of ExxonMobil Qatar.

The Advanced Gas Processing training course was held from August 24 to 28 for a group of 14 engineers who are responsible for the design, operation or surveillance of gas processing facilities, or will use design tools for advanced process or equipment design and evaluation.

The course was facilitated by a team of four experts from ExxonMobil’s Upstream Fractionation & Separation group, which is responsible for research, design and troubleshooting for all fractionating and separation systems for the ExxonMobil Upstream organisation globally.

The Reservoir Engineering course was held from August 31 to September 4, giving each of the 17 participants the opportunity to learn about the roles and contributions of various disciplines in the reservoir life cycle, from lead identification to project abandonment. This enabled staff who may not be involved in reservoir engineering work to gain an understanding of what is involved in reservoir engineering.

The Project Controls Overview training hosted 25 employees from joint venture from September 7 to 10. Featuring content that can be applied to both upstream and downstream capital projects, the course provided an overview of fundamental project management concepts along with cost and schedule control priorities.

Modules introduced the methodology and tools needed for comprehensive project controls analysis, while instructors conveyed the methods of cost and schedule monitoring, forecasting and reporting through classroom lecture and group exercises.

The main objectives of the Gas Business Fundamentals course held from September 21 to 25 were to convey a comprehensive view of the global gas value chain, including multiple marketing dispositions and ending with a hands-on practice case applying the knowledge acquired in the course.

A total of 28 participants from QP, Qatargas and RasGas attended the programme led by John King, an expert in the developing and marketing of natural gas, both in pipeline natural gas and LNG, and Dr Y Serdar Dogulu, director of Innovative Learning Solutions at IHRDC.

Under the Leadership and Personal Effectiveness discipline within the extensive Tamayoz training network, the Effective Teams & Cultural Essentials programme addressed the fundamentals required to work effectively on diverse teams, while Consulting Training focused on delivering critical practices and behaviours that characterise an effective consultant. Both two-day courses hosted roughly 15 participants during June and October, respectively.
