Al-Attiyah arrives in Washington

 

Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority, HE Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah, and his accompanying delegation arrived in the US capital, Washington, yesterday.

During the visit HE al-Attiyah will take part in the 23rd Annual Arab-US Policymakers Conference.

Al-Attiyah and his accompanying delegation were welcomed upon arrival by Qatar’s Ambassador to the United States, Mohamed Jaham al-Kuwari.

 

Qatar to attend
GCC meeting on
social insurance

 

Qatar will take part in the 14th meeting of heads of civil retirement and social insurance authorities in GCC state, which opens in Kuwait tomorrow.  

Qatar’s delegation to the two-day meeting is headed by the president of the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority, Turki Mohamed al-Khater.

The meeting will review important issues such as development of the application of the unified system to extend insurance protection to GCC states, and include a discussion and analysis of statistical data for civil retirement and social insurance, particularly with regard to the number of registered persons, required payments and recipients of benefits.

 

Construction conference
and expo opens today

A two-day Conference and Exhibition of Qatar Construction Specifications (QSC 2014) will open today, under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).  

At the same time the fifth edition of these specifications will be launched with the attendance and the participation of more than 500 personalities, experts and specialists from within Qatar and abroad.

The participants will be briefed on the latest innovations and technical engineering projects to be presented by some commercial companies participating in the Conference while many topics relevant to these areas will be discussed.

QCS 2014 was the first step towards issuing the “Qatar international specifications for construction 2017” and an urgent need for the community to maintain the health and integrity of a person and his property.

QSC 2014 came in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Qatar national sustainable development under way in Qatar in all areas in order to achieve security and public safety, the national strategy for building safety and improvement of occupational health.

Registration for Katara’s fourth Traditional Dhow Festival closes

 

Registration for the Traditional Dhow Festival at Katara - the Cultural Village closed on Thursday.

The registration process for the upcoming heritage festival, scheduled for November 18 to 22, saw several applications from Qatar and other GCC countries, according to a statement.

The fourth edition of the festival will include, for the first time, a Qatari heritage village that will give an idea of life in the country during the ’40s and ’50s and a market for traditional handicrafts.

Further, there will be five new competitions for pearl hunting, rowing, free diving, best dhow and traditional sailboats. In addition, visitors to Katara will have the opportunity to explore the renovation of a marine heritage site, the details of which be revealed later.
