Qatar Airways is to be the official airline for the upcoming Katara European Jazz Festival in Doha.

The three-day event, which brings together some of the finest performers of European Jazz music to Doha, starts on October 30. It is organised by the five embassies of France, Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland in Doha, in co-operation with Katara Cultural Village and Jazzy Colors of Paris.

The event which will be held in the Katara Cultural Village will consist of three consecutive jazz evenings as well as several workshops held by international musicians at the Qatar Music Academy.

The goal behind the event is to establish an annual international jazz festival and make Doha a hub that serves as a forum for international artistic exchange between European and Arab music traditions.

Some of the musicians who will perform during this year’s festival include the French quartet of Bertrand Renaudin, the Italian pianist Stefano Battaglia’s Trio, Jan Schneider’s Quartet from Germany and Switzerland’s Trio Alptraum.

Qatar Airways has in the past associated itself with prestigious cultural sponsorships such as the one with the Jazz At Lincoln Centre in both New York and Doha and the Melbourne Jazz Festival.

Ehab Amin, Qatar Airways senior vice president commercial, Qatar, said that the airline was proud to support such prominent cultural events in Doha and around the world.

“At Qatar Airways we have a long-established tradition of supporting only the best, be it cultural or sporting events. We are pleased to partner with the Katara European Jazz Festival which is being organised by the European embassies with whom we work very closely with in Qatar.”

Currently undergoing rapid expansion, Qatar Airways is one of the fastest growing airlines operating one of the youngest fleets in the world.

Now in its 17th year of operations, Qatar Airways has a modern fleet of 137 aircraft flying to 144 key business and leisure destinations across six continents.
