HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Education Above All (EAA), yesterday witnessed the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding between EAA and two Turkish development and humanitarian agencies.

EAA signed agreements with the Turkish Co-operation and Co-ordination Agency (TIKA) relating to co-operation in education such as in West Africa and Afghanistan and the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) on collaboration in Primary Education Support for Syrian Refugees in Turkey. HH Sheikha Moza was joined at the signings by Numan Kurtulmus, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey.

The agreements followed HH Sheikha Moza’s visit to two camps in southern Turkey on Tuesday housing over 16,000 Syrian refugees. She met with children, parents and teachers in these camps and pledged her support through EAA’s Educate A Child programme to ensure quality education for the refugee children.

Education Above All, and specifically its Educate A Child programme, will now work with both Turkish agencies to jointly support education activities that serve to enroll and retain out-of-school children in quality basic education.

HH Sheikha Moza has long supported education in conflict-affected areas through her initiatives.
