A team from the Ministry of Economy and Commerce’s consumer protection and commercial fraud combating department has visited the Vodafone service centre at Souq al-Khaleej to supervise the recall campaign for iPhone 5.

The ministry had previously announced the recall campaign for iPhone 5 handsets sold in Qatar from September 2012 to January 2013 due to a defect in the battery.

The inspectors from ministry made the visit to ensure that the recall process is carried out smoothly. They supervised the repair and replacement process.

The battery replacement can take up to 30 minutes and around 120 batteries have been replaced so far at the Vodafone service centre.

The inspectors recommended that the company provide a larger space for waiting customers to make it more comfortable for them.
