Hamad International Airport (HIA), Qatar's new world-class gateway to the world, is preparing for an increase in passengers during the Eid al-Adha holiday period.

"We would like to wish all our passengers and residents of Qatar Eid Mubarak. During this special holiday when many people will be visiting friends and loved ones all over the world, HIA is working tirelessly to ensure that all our passengers have an enjoyable and pleasant travel experience," said Badr al-Meer, HIA’s chief operating officer.

During and after Eid al-Adha, HIA will also be welcoming back passengers from Haj – they will be able to find the Zamzam water collection point on the ground level, near the short-term car park.

HIA has advised departing passengers to arrive at the airport three hours before their flight. It is also reminding passengers that check-in will close 60 minutes prior to departure and they should take advantage of online check-in service offered by airlines such as Qatar Airways.

HIA offers free parking for the first 30 minutes in the short-term car park, and charges QR 5 per hour thereafter.

Passengers who drive their own cars to the airport can use free parking in the long-term car park where they will be offered a free bus ride to the terminal. Drivers have been warned that vehicles parked on the kerb side throughout the HIA facility will be towed away by the authorities.

A total of 2,475,340 travellers departed, transferred or arrived in Qatar during August.
