The organising committee for Qmarsec 2014 (Qatar Maritime Security Coastal and Border Surveillance Conference) has announced that HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani will open the country’s largest maritime security conference next month.

Qmarsec 2014 will be held on October 14-15 at the Ritz-Carlton, Doha. The theme of this year’s conference will be “Maritime Domain Awareness - the Steps to Maritime Security”.

Staff Brigadier (Pilot) Mohamed A al-Mannai, director of the Qatar National Security Shield Project, the official host of Qmarsec 2014, said: “The Qmarsec 2014 conference is coming with a far more comprehensive, quality-led and value-driven programme, featuring senior and key military and security officials from not only the Middle East region, but now also from the international arena with the announcement that we will have the Nato head of operations speak next month.”

HE the Prime Minister is in full support of the conference as the mission is to achieve peace and public security since modern-day Qatar was established, it has been observed in a statement.

According to HE Sheikh Abdullah, “Our organisation fully supports the effort of this important Qmarsec 2014 conference.”

Matthew Cochran, chairman of the event’s official organising partner Defence Services Marketing Council, said: “We are honoured that Qmarsec is now Qatar’s largest maritime security conference and delivers on the objective to serve as an incubator and accelerator of partnership and growth for the defence, space and security industry. We remain committed to this goal, not just once a year, but on an ongoing basis.”
