Eric Didier presents the winner in the ‘Tribute to Bugatti’ category with a pair of business class tickets for travel to anywhere on the Qatar Airways global network.

Qatar Airways, the only airline sponsor of the Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille, welcomed classic car enthusiasts and collectors at the Château de Chantilly, in the Domaine de Chantilly (France), last Sunday.

Situated in spectacular gardens, the Château de Chantilly provided the perfect backdrop to classic car enthusiasts who had gathered to meet and view more than 500 cars on display.

The weekend also witnessed a classic car rally, during which cars competed in their respective categories, with Qatar Airways sponsoring the “Tribute to Bugatti” category. This category was so named as it was won by a Bugatti type 55 1933 Collection from the “Rev Institute for the Automotive Museum”.

The driver of this winning car was presented by Qatar Airways country manager Eric Didier with a pair of business class tickets for travel to anywhere on the airline’s global network of 144 destinations.

Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar al-Baker said the airline was pleased to be involved in this celebratory event that brought together fine art, culture and automobiles.

“As an airline, we take pride in being involved in the communities in which we serve. Supporting the cultural fabric of the destinations we fly to is about more than just offering an extensive network of routes; it is about building connections with the very people who live in the cities we serve,” he said.

Other activities taking place witnessed Richard Mille presenting 11 concept cars, three as a world exclusive and one as a European exclusive. The Concours d’Elegance was also held alongside the classic Concours d’Etat, which gathers a hundred of the Most Beautiful Cars in the World, together with the Grand Prix des Clubs, rewarding the best displayed car.

Over 500 club cars were on display at the event, ranging from different editions of the Bugatti to Rolls-Royce, Delahaye, Facel Vega, Aston Martin and Maserati, which coincidentally is celebrating its centenary this year.

Qatar Airways has been serving France for the past 14 years and currently operates triple-daily services non-stop from the airline’s hub in Doha.

The airline operates a mixture of Airbus A340s and Boeing 777s on the Paris-Doha route and will soon introduce the Airbus A380.
