The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has detected a hike in rates by four well-known eateries without obtaining the required approval from the government department concerned. The restaurants have been issued violation reports and directed to revert to the approved price list. Inspectors from the MEC’s Quantitative Licences and Market Control Section recently conducted an inspection campaign, covering some 198 eateries and cafes  to ensure compliance with approved regulations and rules, particularly regarding listed rates. The ministry stressed that any manipulation of prices without the official approval will be dealt with strictly according to the law. It urged consumers to report any violations that they come across.
