Qatar has called on the international community to deal seriously and effectively with the  crimes committed by the Syrian regime.

This came in a speech delivered by Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office at Geneva, Faisal bin Abdullah al-Henzab , at the 25th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva entitled “Renovation of United Nations High Commission for Human Rights (UNHCR)” , which was held here yesterday.

Al-Henzab said that Qatar agreed with the UNHCR that what is happening in Syria was appalling human tragedy, especially in light of the Syrian regime committing more war crimes and crimes against humanity and its refusal to respond seriously to Arab and international initiatives to end the conflict and reach a solution that meets the legitimate demands of the Syrian people.

Al-Henzab also expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation of Muslims in the Central African Republic.
