IKEA, part of Al-Futtaim Group, has announced the launch of online shopping for its Qatar website which features over 1,800 products.

The launch comes close on the heels of the introduction of IKEA’s mobile-friendly version of its Qatar website.

John Kersten, managing director, IKEA - Qatar, UAE, Egypt & Oman, said: “This is a very special time for IKEA as we complete our first year of being present in the Qatar market. We have had a great year and have been overwhelmed at the warm reception received from our customers here. The launch of our online shopping function is a testimony to our commitment to continuously improve the IKEA experience.”

He added: “From opening our first store here to distributing our catalogue, launching first our English and later the Arabic website, creating the mobile website and finally enabling customers to shop online through the website, 2013-14 is a year of milestones for IKEA. As we begin our second year in Qatar, we hope to keep reinventing ourselves and the experience we offer our customers.”

In 2013-14, over 1.4mn people visited the IKEA store at Doha Festival City. Offering customers an added benefit of shopping online is in line with IKEA’s mission to offer well-designed and affordable home furnishing products and
inspiration to the many.

The IKEA website www.IKEA.qa is where visitors can now browse over 1,800 furniture products from across key areas of the home, namely Living Room, Bedroom and Bathroom.

Products of interest can be added to the shopping cart and then purchased using a credit card. The website also offers the option to select home delivery and assembly services available free of charge for cart values of QR2,500 or more.

“Qatar is an extremely robust and a very promising market for IKEA. It has showcased exciting growth vectors and we are grateful to have been part of this experience. Given the developing retail landscape in this market, every day is a new opportunity to push the boundaries further and that’s exactly what we’re doing at IKEA,” John added.
