Noted Indian space scientist and former chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro), Dr G Madhavan Nair, will be the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony of Sastra Pratibha 2013, scheduled for November 2 at MES Indian School.

Sastra Pratibha Contest (SPC) is held under the aegis of the expatriate cultural organisation, Samanvayam. Nair will felicitate the winners of SPC 2013 at the event.

Dr Nair is considered responsible for charting the roadmap for future development of Isro’s activities, especially in terms of launch vehicles and towards reducing the cost of access to space.

Nair accomplished 25 successful missions during his tenure as the chairman of Isro and secretary of the Department of Space, India. He is also a recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian honour.

SPC 2013, a science aptitude test, was held at Birla Public School in April. Seven students from Indian schools in Qatar have been selected as Sastra Pratibhas. They will be awarded during the function on
November 2.

Along with the seven toppers, 75 other students will also get certificates based on their performance in the contest.

MES Indian School secured the highest points and Birla Public School bagged the
second position.

The children will also get the opportunity chance to interact with Dr Nair during the event.
