Turkish Airlines has announced two-way airfares of up to 50% off for passengers from Doha to Istanbul.
“It is part of a new campaign to promote the touristic capital of Istanbul as a top destination for GCC travellers,” an airline statement said yesterday.
“Building on the continued passenger growth achieved by Turkish Airlines from Qatar, the promotional airfares start at only QR1,010, inclusive of tax and service charges, and have been launched for advance bookings to Istanbul and other cities in Turkey over the winter months,” it said.
Murat Bas, vice president, marketing and sales for Turkish Airlines in Middle East and Cyprus, said  Turkish Airlines had witnessed tremendous growth from Qatar, “a 57% increase in passenger traffic in the first eight months of this year compared to the same period in 2012, and we connect passengers from Doha to more countries than any other airline.”
He said, “Istanbul is increasingly popular as a holiday destination for Gulf residents owing to the unique location of the city. With the flexibility of flights from 33 destinations and less than a five hour flight time from most of the Gulf region, the city is a growing cultural hotspot for enriching city breaks.”
The limited round trip fares from Doha can be booked until October 19 for holidays to and from Istanbul between November 1 and March 31 next year.
Turkish Airlines, which  marks its 80th anniversary this year,  is one of the fastest growing airlines, with connections to 239 destinations across 104 countries.
“The new ‘Istanbul campaign’ offers travellers the award-winning service of Europe’s best airline, at a fraction of the cost, and opportunity to experience the magical charm of Istanbul, famed for its historical riches, stunning natural scenery and contemporary lifestyle,” the statement said.
