Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC) has announced the successful introduction of SAP ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) software, through Project QSAP.
Assistant managing director Mubarak al-Khulaifi was the project sponsor, who conceived the vision of the project and provided overall direction.
Many members of QPMC’s management functioned as business process owners, providing essential inputs on the current processes and future requirements in each business area and guiding the process design.
While the SAP software was supplied by SAP MENA (a subsidiary of SAP AG Germany), QPMC retained Kaar Technologies as implementation partner, to study, analyse, design and implement QPMC’s business processes in SAP.
The Kaar project manager, lead a team of up to 15 functional and eight technical consultants at the peak of the project.
KPMG also partnered with QPMC by providing project management and quality assurance services. The other major business partners include Telephony ME, who supplied the hardware.
The QSAP project team consisted of 40 employees from all departments, divisions and sections of QPMC, plus eight members of IT Section, in the role of core team members.
The SAP implementation, which started in mid-September 2012 and went live on June 2, 2013, is currently going through a stabilisation phase. Some of the business processes are still being “tuned” to achieve the best results.
