QatarDebate Centre’s executive director Dr Hayat Abdullah Maarafi has said that the second International Universities Arabic Debating Championship, which concluded on April 24 at the Qatar National Convention Centre, has given an opportunity to the Arab youth to widen their horizons.
Address the participants of the championship, in which Khartoum University won the top prize, Maarafi thanked Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) and its chairperson HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser for sponsoring the championship and the Foundation’s efforts to enrich the Arabic language and promote the art of debating at the global level.
QatarDebate Centre is a member of QF.
Maarafi said QatarDebate Centre will sign a memorandum of understanding next month with Kuwait University to help it establish a debate club.
Some 43 universities from 21 Arab countries, in addition to Arabic delegations representing universities in Australia, Turkey, the UK, the US, Canada and Malaysia, participated in the championship.
