DM Healthcare Group will open its first hospital in Qatar by 2015, it was announced yesterday. The group has signed an agreement to set up the hospital with Doha-based Al Estiana Real Estate Development company.
The proposed hospital, the construction of which will start soon, will be located behind Family Food Centre on the Airport Road and will have 50 beds. The total built up area will be around 55,000 square feet with an investment of QR60mn excluding the value of the land. Some of the general specialties that will be offered at the hospital are family medicine, gynaecology and obstetrics, paediatrics, dentistry, ophthalmology, ENT, orthopaedics, dermatology, general surgery and services like clinical psychology, physiotherapy and diet and nutrition.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Azad Moopen, chairman and managing director of DM Healthcare said, “Aster has grown over the last 25 years immensely across GCC and India as a key brand driver. We are widespread both in terms of reach as well as service offerings and are pleased to take the expansion of our brand further with the venture of our first hospital project in Qatar to meet our brand promise ‘Care Beyond Boundaries’ ”.
He added that the new hospital will have many super specialty departments such as cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology and  urology.
Hamad Mubarak al- Khater, chairman of Al Khater Business Centre and the director of Al Estiana, said that it was a matter of pride for his organisation to join hands with a leading healthcare conglomerate in the region. He explained, “We are glad that DM Healthcare accepted our proposal in developing a multi-speciality Aster hospital in our country for the benefit of our people, meeting the developmental process as per vision 2030. We aim to support the country and the people with social ethics by developing hospitals, schools and charitable services more than commercial investments.”

Aster hospital in Doha will be the 9th multi specialty hospital of the group in the GCC and 15th hospital in its management across GCC and India.
The upcoming Aster hospital will offer state-of-the-art facilities, the latest in technology and medical expertise to provide tertiary care services.
The hospital will have a full-fledged diagnostic unit with advanced equipment’s and facilities. It  will also have physical rehabilitation departments and a well facilitated a pharmacy.
