The Qatar Airways Group celebrated National Sport Day by organising events that saw the participation of more than 1,500 employees and their families .
The day began at Doha’s Al Jazeera Academy with a wide range of sporting activities on offer, including football, basketball, tennis, cricket and volleyball.
In addition, there were races and dance sessions for children and mothers, as well as face-painting and henna stations.
T-shirts and caps featuring the Qatar Airways and National Sport Day logos were distributed to all participants.
The team activities saw stiff but healthy competition as the airline group’s employees displayed their sporting skills on the field and the court.
The day’s proceedings came to a close with the presentation of trophies to the winners. An added feature was an array of raffle prizes donated by local organisations.
Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al-Baker said they were delighted with the strong turnout, adding that it reflected a commitment to supporting the state’s vision to promote sports and healthy living among citizens and expatriates in Qatar.
