Dear Sir,

This is  regarding the circular of mandatory registration of engineers with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning. Currently the provision of registration is for bachelor of engineer (BE) degree-holders only.

But engineering diploma holders, working in Qatar, are also equally qualified and have enough experience in their relevant fields to be considered for registration. Their contribution to Qatar’s development should be recognised.

Hence, I would like to urge the Qatar government to review the system and allow diploma engineers also to register and obtain certificates from the ministry.

Diversions are needed

Dear Sir,

I would like to bring to the attention of authorities concerned regarding difficulties being faced by office-goers and students going to schools every day due to the severe traffic jam on the Wukair-Religious Complex highway.

Most of the congestion in the morning is due to vehicles moving towards the Industrial Area or the Medical Commission roundabout. Similarly, in the afternoon, the Wakrah-bound traffic causes huge blockades.

If diversions /bypass roads are opened, say from the Wakrah Hospital to Wukair, Religious Complex to Ezdan 3, etc,  many vehicles will be made to leave the affected highway, relieving the school- and office-goers directly or indirectly.

Much fuel and productive time could be saved from being wasted in this way.

We understand that the reason for the severe congestion is due to ongoing road  work in the area. But then one has to find temporary solutions to overcome the problem.
