Wave of anger against Israel

Dear Sir,

There is a wave of anger against Israel not only around the world but also at home. War crimes committed by Israel and supported by the West evoke absolute revulsion. Israel’s current Gaza offensive has severely damaged its reputation even among the Jews too. It seems that the time has come for Judaism and Zionism to part ways. In this regard, the recently published writings by Jewish intellectuals and veterans are noteworthy.

Jewish writer Mira Bar Hillel, in her article “Why I’m on the brink of burning my Israeli passport”, writes: “I can no longer stand by while Israeli politicians like Ayelet Shaked condone the deaths of innocent Palestinian women and children. Seeing these angelic faces of evil spouting such genocidal rhetoric, I pick up my Israeli passport and a box of matches.”

As an ex-soldier in the Israeli military, Avner Gvaryahu has written about crimes committed against Palestinians, in an article in The Independent newspaper published from London.

In his recent column “‘The Atrocity”, respectable Jewish intellectual Uri Avnery mourns: “Abominable atrocity took place in Jerusalem. A Palestinian boy was abducted and burned alive. No racist crime in Israel ever came close to it.”

Noam Chomsky, in his piece “Our Everlasting Shame”, says “it (Israeli aggression) will continue as long as it is supported by Washington and

tolerated by Europe – to our everlasting shame”.

Gilad Atzmon, a Jewish author, writes in one of his recent articles “Once again, Israel is defeated” that, “As Israel came to believe that it

had bought itself the final and ultimate technological answer to Palestinian ballistic resistance, it has been devastated to discover that it has lost the war on every possible front: militarily, technologically, politically and ethically.”

It is obvious that many Jews don’t believe in Zionism’s dreams. It is time for the Jews to unite against Israel and bring peace to the region.

Step to solve education problem

Dear Sir,

The Supreme Education Council’s move to allow more private schools in Qatar is highly appreciated. It has been extremely difficult for newly-arriving expatriate parents recently to find places for children in schools. Some of them have even refused lucrative job offers because of this as education of one’s children is of paramount importance for all parents.

The latest move to allow more schools in Qatar will solve the problem.
