The American Chamber of Commerce in Qatar (AmCham Qatar) yesterday hosted Dave Brooke, general manager (Dell Middle East) at a special edition of its ‘Distinguished Speaker Series’ focusing on the impact of growing global IT security risks on doing business in Qatar and the region.

Briefing the members of AmCham Qatar and regional business leaders on the latest risks facing organisations in the region, Brooke described how certain aspects of any IT infrastructure can be updated or refreshed to protect corporate data from cyber-crime and other internal threats such as the loss of devices, securing and empowering remote workers and protecting against human error. Brooke also offered tips to assist organisations to reduce the risk of cyber-attacks.

With Dell’s “comprehensive range” of end-to end security solutions and his own extensive knowledge of security threats in the region, Brooke was the ideal speaker for this event, a statement said. The chamber actively seeks local industry leaders to educate and inform its members around the latest topics and trends affecting businesses in the region.

Brooke said, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to speak at The American Chamber of Commerce about IT security risks that organisations face in the region. AmCham is a fantastic platform for business networking, and these sessions are ideal for local and global businesses to showcase their expertise to improve commerce and collaboration in the region.”

AmCham Qatar chairman, Robert A Hager said: “AmCham Qatar’s Distinguished Speaker Series continues to be a leading forum for business leaders in Qatar to get the insights and information they need. Ensuring the safety and security of our IT infrastructure is an issue of critical importance to both the Qatari and American business communities. We are grateful to Brooke for offering our members and Qatar’s wider business community deep insights into the steps businesses can take to mitigate risk, so their work can continue uninterrupted.”

AmCham Qatar hosts events open to AmCham Qatar members and members of the wider business community, and serves as a key forum for American, domestic and international businesses to pursue common commercial interests and build relationships in Qatar.
